Condolence: Dear Sue, Jack, Janet, and Julie,

I was saddened to hear of Jack's passing and wanted to express our family's condolences to you all. I especially remember his deep voice and sense of humor over many years of visits to New Jersey (and some the other direction).

Condolence: Mr. Helmer was the most patient, kind, and respectful Shop Teacher. He was a gentleman and always let us be ourselves. I was so excited to take Shop class. I still have the cut out horse head I made in his class along with my tool box. I am a Journeyman carpenter. He instilled in me that I COULD DO IT. I have done it now for over 20 years and still love the work. He will be missed by so many! My sincerest condolences to the entire family, the friends, and former students of Mr. Jack Helmer, he was one of a kind.

Condolence: Mr. Helmer was my shop teacher. He was a nice man and had a great sense of humor. He was patient and so well liked. Many of us who still keep in touch are sad to see he passed. I saw one of my friends post the notice on Facebook and I wish you could see all of the great memories we shared. There aren't many teachers like him anymore. I just wanted to let you know how well loved and respected he was by the class of 79 Slaybaugh.

Condolence: My condolences to the Helmer family. I remember, even though it was over 40 years ago being excited to take a few shop classes with Mr. Helmet instead of home ec at Slaybaugh School. He was such a kind man with such patience for the girls! I still have the fish cutting board that he actually made, not me. A true favorite of the school system by those who were fortunate to be taught by the legends ----Mr. Helmer, the Brooks, the Cotanis'.
