Obituary for William F Wagner Jr.

William F Wagner Jr.
William F. Wagner Jr. 89, went to be with the lord on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

He leaves his loving wife of 65 years, Mary “Dolores” Wagner; his son, William F. Wagner III (Elizabeth “Rusti”); his granddaughters Susan Slusarski (Steve), Lindsay Brown (Robert); Great Grandson Stephen “Steve’O” Slusarski; Sister Marian Patroni (Andy); sister in law Martha “Betty” Wagner and many special nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents William and Hazel Wagner Sr.; Brothers Oliver, Harvey, John; Sisters Hazel Wagner, Frances Sykes (Raymond), and Winifred Young (Edward).

In his early years, he worked in the family business at the Ventnor Athletic Center skating rink. During this time, he also served in the US Navy as a Carpenter’s Mate Third Class. Upon returning, he started working with his father at William F. Wagner and Sons as a carpenter. Bill and his son continued the family business working until his final days.

He was a member and served on the vestry of the Harvey Wagner Memorial Chapel in Ventnor NJ, which he helped build from the ground up. He was a member of the Keystone Lodge for 60 years. He was the Cub Scout Master of Pack 45 of Pleasantville.

Many will remember him as the bus driver driving skaters to the Ventnor Athletic Center skating rink on Friday nights. Others will remember him as the “suspender” man – especially the waitresses. Girls loved to snap his suspenders and he loved it too! He could always be counted on for a joke and a smile. He will be loved and missed by all.

A viewing will be held Monday, January 16, 2017 from 10:30-12:00 at Adams Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. A service will begin at 12pm.

Burial will be held on Monday, January 16 at the Zion Cemetery, Egg Harbor Township.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his honor to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Holy Redeemer Hospice.
