Obituary for Virginia Shirley Mae Mozelle (Bess)

Virginia Shirley Mae  Mozelle (Bess)
Mozelle, Virginia Shirley Mae, nee Bess, age 92, of Atlantic City, went peacefully home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loved ones on Friday, June 24, 2016, at her home. She was born in Oriental, North Carolina on May 6, 1925 to the late James Bash Bess and Cordelia Keys Bess. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church, Pleasantville, NJ.

Virginia worked for the Atlantic City Police Department where she was employed for over 30 years, as a Special Officer.

She is preceded in death by her husband John D. Mozelle, son William David Mozelle, Sr. (Clarice deceased); son in-laws, Ernest Edwards and Girard Thomas; five sisters Beulah, Alvania Geneva, Rossetti, Julia, and Norman Jean, and four brothers William, James, Herbert, and Robert.

Virginia is survived by six children, Beulah Mozelle-Braithwaite (Howard Bey), of Atlantic City, NJ, Ernest L. Mozelle (Diane), of Fredericksburg, VA, Samuel N. Mozelle (Char-Lynn), of Pleasantville, NJ, Shirley M. Edwards, of Egg Harbor Twp, NJ, Dorothy Mozelle-Thomas of Atlantic City, NJ, and Delores Mozelle-Wright (James) of Mays Landing, NJ; her sisters, Sudie Mozelle of Oriental, NC and Arnetta McLean of Atlantic City, NJ. Virginia also cherish her memories 38 grandchildren, 68 great-grandchildren and a host of great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

A service will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 353 S New Rd, Pleasantville, NJ 08232. A viewing will be 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, in Pleasantville.
