Obituary for Romona Brown (Garrett)

Romona Brown (Garrett)
Brown, Romona - 61 of Pleasantville, died Saturday, July 30, 2016 after long term suffering from a debilitating stroke.

Romona was born to the late Samuel Dewitt Garrett and Vivian Green on April 17, 1955 in Atlantic City, NJ. She graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1973 and later explored paralegal studies at the Atlantic County Community College.

Romona was employed for a short while in the retail industry, where she worked with her mother and close friend. She later worked in the personnel department at an insurance company before eventually securing a position at the Press of Atlantic City where she worked as a Graphic Technician for over 19 years.

If you knew Romona then you knew that her greatest joy was her grandson and she loved every moment of being ‘mom-mom’. You would also know that she had a passion for writing poetry. She could whip up a poem in no time for any occasion. If you were lucky, you received one of her legendary birthday poems.

Romona inspired others to be compassionate and kind. She was down-to-earth, extremely caring and very easy to talk. She will be deeply missed.

Romona is survived by two children: Kaytisha Garrett (her fiancé Andrew Kaplan) and LaMar Brown; one grandson Elijah Brown; one sister, Stalene Pryce; and two nephews, Cornel Garrett (his wife Roxanne Garrett) and Brandon Rogers. Romona’s brother, Dewitt Garrett, preceded her in death.

The visitation will be held from 10:00am - 11:00am on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. The funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be held in Greenwood Cemetery, Pleasantville.
