Rob saved my life.

In July of 1999, the summer before my freshman year at EHTHS, Rob literally saved my life. I grew up in a single family neighborhood around London Court in EHT. I had recently become friends with the local kids and Rob was one of them. During the summers we would go swimming practically every day. On one of these days I was swimming with Rob and a few other kids. I had been on swim teams and was a pretty experienced swimmer. I decided to show off my breath holding skills and swim a couple laps under water. I had completed the first two laps and Rob was so impressed I decided to try for three. Unfortunately I didn't give myself enough time in between attempts and during my third underwater lap I passed out under the water. The next thing I knew I woke up with the lifeguard Brian and Rob dripping wet with a serious look of concern on their faces. It took me a minute to realize what had happened and I panicked. Rob and Brian both calmed me down and kept me still until the paramedics came. I later found out Rob was the one who noticed I was unconscious and was the first to get me out of the water with the help of Brian and another kind soul. (Dead weight isn't easy to lift) I also found out Rob did my chest compressions while Brian gave me mouth to mouth. I'm not sure who but someone went to my house to tell my mom who called my dad and he came to pick me up minutes before the news reporters arrived. There was a big picture and story about Rob and Brian in the local paper. The recognition was well deserved. Rob was always full of energy and ready for an adventure. As we grew up we grew apart. After almost 20 years Rob had just reached out to me on Facebook. I didn't know who he was at first so I questioned him and his first and only needed response was "I saved your life when we were kids"! Rob told me he was sober and working. I was extremely proud and happy for him. I have so many fun memories with him and our neighborhood crew going to wildwood and ocean city, or just sitting outside on the curb or the "green box" thing in every development. My condolences to his family and children. I have nothing but fond memories of him as a kid. I am forever grateful for his quick action which quite literally saved my life.
