Condolences

Condolence From: Linda Dianda
Condolence: I was a student at Stockton and took a class with Professor Lyons. He was also my preceptor. I thought he was a wonderful teacher and believed that he had a genuine concern for his students. I remember seeing him on different occasions and he would always be talking about his children and grandchildren. I could tell he was proud of them. I was also impressed by all the books he had in his office and even asked him one time if he read all of them, which he replied, "yes I have, some even twice." I am very saddened to hear of his passing. My sincere condolences to his family.

Condolence: I haven't thought about Paul Lyons for many, many years. News of his death reminds me that he was a great teacher, and that he probably influenced me to become a teacher myself. My deepest condolences to his family.

Condolence: I remember Paul from the third grade at Chancellor Ave. School in Newark. From the first day I met himi (at about the age of 8), I fell madly in love with him. He was wonderful way back then- intelligent, handsome, fun, a great sthlete, everything that an 8 year-old could want. Sadly, for me, this was a completely unreciprocated love, but it lasted for years. I can see that I had good taste way back then.

I share the family's sorrow and extend my hearfelt condolences.

Condolence: As one of my first instructors entering the dor to Stockton State College, Paul gave the impression that I was in a special place. Although Stockton was a special place, I realize now it was he who was one of those dedicated, peaceful loving people that made it so great. I will never forget taking Marx and Freud with him. As strong as his opinions were was as strong as his compassion.

I remember how he talked about all the noise in the world: so much TV, radio... noise and he often drove home turning the radio off to here the silence or whatever sounds were just around him.

I will miss him and his ability to create a cirlce of peace around him.

Condolence: I was saddened to read about the passing of one of the most infulential professors I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He was a wonderful historian who shared his knowledge of historical events and experiences in a manner which was enjoyable and educational. He will be sadly missed.

Condolence: To Paul's family and friends,

I was so sad to open the Press and see Prof. Lyons picture and notice in the obituaries.

Prof. Lyons taught several classes I was in at Stockton College 1992-1996 while I was in college for my social work degree.

What a wonderful man! I not only learned so much from him but he was genuinely a nice guy - who remembered each student and was very open-minded. Even if you didn't agree with his views he still appreciated you and your ideas/views. He really opened my mind.

I feel very lucky to have known him and to have had him as a Professor.

Best and all of my sympathy,

Sam ~

Condolence: Mary, sadness is an understatement about the loss of a man who helped shape so many of us. Paul was a joyous combination of book smarts, street smarts, tenderness and toughness; a person who could school you about Lennin and Marx or Dr. J. and George McGinnis. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
