Chartier, Kenneth George - 74 of Egg Harbor Township, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 with his wife by his side.

Born in Lewiston, Maine where he spent his early years, he later moved to Florida before settling in New Jersey, graduating from Pleasantville High School, Class of 1962. Upon graduation, Kenneth served in the US Navy aboard the USS Forrestal CV-59 and the USS Operation Island out of Port Canaveral. He re-enlisted in the US Navy Reserves with the Seabees, serving in Operation Desert Storm in 1991. Kenneth retired from the Navy after 20 years of service. He belonged to the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 322, retiring after 25 years, and worked for several years at Lowe's Home Improvement in Egg Harbor Twp. He was also a member of the American Legion, Clark-Eliason Post 352 in Somers Point. After his retirement, Kenneth enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, gardening, and spending time with his beloved family, friends, and pets. But mostly, he loved helping people with their plumbing issues.

Kenneth was predeceased by his father, George Edward Chartier; his mother, Juliet Blackman; his stepfather, LeRoy Blackman; and his stepbrother, LeRoy Blackman, Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Ellen Chartier (nee Adams); his children, Lisa Ann Chartier-Dowd and her husband Fred, and Kenneth G. Chartier, Jr. and his wife Theresa; his three grandchildren, Rick and Jake Dowd, and Amber Lombardi; his mother, Charlotte Chartier; brothers John Chartier and his wife Mary Ann, and Ronald Chartier; his sisters, Gayle Cessna and her husband Warren, and Kris Murray; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11:00am at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. A viewing will be held from 10:00am until the time of the service. Burial with military honors will follow in the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor.

The family would like to thank their friends at Weinstein's, Coast Tile, and Soltz Paint - and their favorite electrician - for their many kindnesses during their last construction project.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kenneth's memory to the Last Salute Military Funeral Honor Guard, 256 Aschwind Court, Galloway, NJ 08205.
