Katherine S. "Kay"  Conkling (Siakotos)
Conkling, Katherine S. "Kay", 86 of Margate, NJ and Shoreham, NY, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday, March 4, 2017.

Born in Dedham, MA, she worked as a medical technologist and later safety coordinator at the Brookhaven National Lab for 50 years, retiring at age 81. A lifelong learner, Kay received her Bachelors Degree from Empire State College at age 60 and continued to further her work in the medical field. Kay also worked at John T. Mather Memorial Hospital for over 20 years in the laboratory's Blood Bank. In her spare time, Kay was an avid reader, skilled bowler, enjoyed tennis & skiing, and even played second baseman for her work softball team the "Turkeys".

Beloved Yia Yia of Harrison, Christopher (Talia), and Jamie Lucy Zalman. She loved her family, frequently traveling for holiday and sporting events.

Kay was predeceased by her husband, Charles R. Conkling. She is survived by her two children, Demetra "Demi" Zalman (Rich), and Charles "Reg" Conkling; her three grandchildren; her brother, Michael Siakotos; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 7th at 11:00am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 7004 Ridge Avenue, Egg Harbor Township, NJ. A visitation will be held from 10:00am until the time of the service. An additional viewing will be held on Wednesday, March 8th from 7-9pm at the O.B. Davis Funeral Home, 1001 Rt. 25 A, Miller Place, NY. Interment will be held on Thursday, March 9th at 11:00am in Calverton Cemetery, Calverton, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kay's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090
