Obituary for Jose Rodriguez

Jose Rodriguez
Rodriguez, Jose M. - 73 of Egg Harbor Township, went to the Lord on August 17, 2016 at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, Mainland Division.

Jose came from Costa Rica in 1973 to Atlantic City, during part of the civil rights movement. Jose was the greatest auto mechanic with foreign and domestic cars in New Jersey. He began work in America with Pep Boys, Coggins Chevrolet, and AC Linen. Then he went on to have his own auto repair shop in Pleasantville. He adored the art of boxing legends like Muhammad Ali, and all the old timers, especially Roberto Duran "no mas no mas!".

Jose always liked to imitate the classic movies like Clint Eastwood, John Wayne, and Jesse James movies. The gorilla fighter had a will like iron and pride like a lion, he never took anything lying down. At the same time a personality that could light up the day even when it was dark, with his blunt and exhilarating. At 73 his smile was still one of the whitest and fullest you would ever see. He inspired everyone he loved to be the very best they could be in life because he believed "If you can't make it in America, you can't make it anywhere". He cherished music with a passion, loved filling his home with Bob Marley, Beatles, Elvis, Juan Gabriel, Raphael, Julio Iglesias, and Jose Jose.

He loved his home and beautiful land; Jose liked his life simple, listening to the birds and taking care of his garden that was covered in blooming roses and lilies. He collected many charming antiques - bottles, works of art, oriental, and sculptures.

Jose's wife, Elizabeth Perez, of 43 years of an amazing marriage journey will keep the glory of his spirit going. To be surpassed by his four children: Ronald, Diola, Alejandro, and Hector. Also by the grandchildren he raised, DeCarlo and Angel Perez. Will be remembered by all his family members including, Leticia, Cabo, Tina, Lucia, and Maria. Treasured forever, a fighter at heart, by his family and friends.

A viewing will be held Monday, August 22nd from 10am until 11am at Our Lady Star of the East, 25 W. Black Horse Pike, Pleasantville. Mass will follow at 11am. Burial will be held in Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing.

From this world a great father to an everlasting love that will never forget Jose. Rest in peace, let the lord embrace you, your spirit belongs to heaven now. Amen.
