Obituary for John Harty

John Harty
John J. “Jack” Harty- formerly of Pine Hill. Jack passed away peacefully at his home in Absecon, N.J. after a long illness. Jack had two loves in life: firefighting and race cars, especially Ford Mustangs. His “homes away from home” were the Amber Terrace (now Pine Hill) Fire Dept. and the Atco Raceway. Throughout the 70’s and 80’s Jack could be found at either place sharing his passions with fellow firefighters and race car enthusiasts. He also attended the yearly NJ Firefighters Convention in Wildwood. His home was filled with trophies representing his accomplishments in racing and firefighting. Jack was a loving brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to all who knew him.

He is predeceased by his parents, Ellen and Joseph Harty, Sr., and his brother, Alex. He is survived by his siblings, Ruth Reres (Steve), Joseph “Beau” Harty Jr. (Libby), Debbie Keenan (Bill), Edward Harty (Judy), Joyce King (Bob), Penny Kowalski (Jeff), and Rich Harty (Shelly). Jack also leaves behind many loving cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews and one great-great nephew.

A viewing will be held from 2:30pm to 3pm, on Thursday, August 15, 2013, at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Rd, in Northfield. A service will follow at 3pm. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
