James ‘Jim’ Sparks, 78, of Linwood, NJ and Stratham, NH passed away suddenly on May 18th, 2022. Born December 28, 1943 to Melvin and Jean Sparks, Jim grew up in Pedricktown, NJ. After graduating from Penns Grove HS, Jim worked at the Dupont factory until he decided to attend Rider University to study Finance. During his time at Rider, which he spoke fondly of, Jim enjoyed the brotherhood of the Theta Chi fraternity. Upon receiving his Bachelor’s degree, Jim began a life-long career in banking. He worked in different departments and ultimately helped to grow and build several banks in the South Jersey area. After retiring, and throughout his life, Jim enjoyed golfing, storytelling with a hearty laugh, cheering on the WVU Mountaineers, following baseball, going out to breakfast, walks on the boardwalk and family vacations to Disney World. Jim was a very proud family man and could often be found supporting his two grandchildren in their various activities. Jim is survived by his wife of 44 years, Lynn; his daughter Jennifer Okenquist, and husband Dennis, of Nottingham, NH; his two grandchildren, Allison and Andrew Okenquist; his sister-in-law, Terri Mazza and nephew Jonathan Mazza, and family, of Mays Landing, NJ.

Services and burial will be conducted privately at the Maple Lane Cemetery in Stratham, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s memory to the American Cancer Society or Alzheimer’s Association.
