Obituary for James Hammock

Hammock, James A., 89 of Egg Harbor Township, passed away at home on Thursday, May 31st.

Born in Claxton, GA to William and Jane (nee Eason) Hammock, he joined the Navy at 15 and served for over eight years and traveled the world. He met his wife, Elizabeth, married her in 1951, and built his own home. James was one of the first police officers to serve in the Egg Harbor Township Police Department. He was a volunteer fireman with the Farmington Fire Department. Over the years, Jim belonged to many clubs and organizations. He started his own construction business, Shore Points Construction, building many local homes.

He was predeceased by his parents; his brother, William; and his sister, RoseAnne. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Elizabeth; his son, James and daughter-in-law Julie (nee Baricko); his daughter, Gayle Hughes and her husband, Jeffrey; three grandchildren: Jennifer, Shelby, and Dalton; along with his nieces and nephew.

A graveside service will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
