Memories of Uncle Frank

One of my fondest memories of Uncle Frank was the time he stopped in my parents' home on Christmas Eve with Uncle Bob to see what his brother Jack's grandchildren were getting for Christmas.  I was living in Delaware at the time, and my young son Michael had gone to bed.  I was so thrilled to see both uncles and the love that they showed my family.  After watching my father and I putting Michael's toys together, we all went over to Jo Ann and Gordon's across the driveway to see what Jacquelyn and Julie were getting - and they got a huge walk-in doll house in the basement that year!

Looking back to younger years, I remember the phone ringing when I was in high school.  My Mom Jane was thinking it might  be Aunt Eileen or Uncle Frank calling her and Jack to go out dancing with them and Pop Pop.  These times must have been great, and I was told that Pop Pop (Elvis) liked to stay out late and dance.

I loved seeing Uncle Frank, Aunt Eileen, and other family members who sometimes came by boat or car to different family reunions.   The pool parties at my parents'  home were wonderful, even though I sometimes thought: "Will these Nugent relatives ever leave?" Who can ever forget the love that this patriarchal figue Uncle Frank always showed his family members? It was a joy to see him out and about participating in my own father's Memorial Golf Tournament, at the Shore Diner, Christmas parties and Easter Egg hunts at his homes, my grandparents' home, and at the homes of other relatives.

I remember the great times at his homes on Shore Road and Mill Road.  His great sense of humor was prevalent even this year when he was sick.  He was a tall, strong man.  When I asked him about how he kept his face free from wrinkles, Uncle Frank said, "Preparation H."  I miss Uncle Frank's wonderful stories about certain job sites and the heydays of Atlantic City.  He accomplised much to be proud of in his life.  God gave the family so many more years to be with him after being shot down in World War II.  What a legacy Uncle Frank had! I hope everyone is as proud of him as I am!
