Obituary for Doris Irene DeCicco

Doris Irene  DeCicco
Doris Irene (Thomas) DeCicco, 84 went home to be with her Lord on Nov.3, 2008 in Galloway after a brief illness. She was the widow of Neil A. DeCicco, Sr. (from Hoboken) who was one of the original members of the V.F.W. Post 9462 of Absecon, where Doris was active in the Ladies Aux. Doris was the loving mother of four children; Rosalind (DeCicco) Watson of Absecon, Neil A. DeCicco, Jr. and wife, Carolyn of Haddonfield, Gerard T. DeCicco of EHT, and Richard R. DeCicco(Karen) of Mays Landing. She was an adored grandmother of five grandchildren; Brian T. Watson (wife Jamie) of Millville, Wendy L. Shutter (husband Michael), Thomas N. Watson of Mays Landing, Cindy D. Reynolds (husband Sid) of Tuckerton, and Jill Rude (husband Tim) of Norwich, NY, special great grandmother of Cody Watson, Sierra Watson, Rachael Reynolds, Victoria Finley and Emma Garris. Doris will always be missed by her long time companion, Reginald E. Forbey, her brothers; Rev. Norman H. Thomas and Leon A. Thomas, Jr. and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her siblings; Eva Mae Adams of Pt. Republic, Clayton O. Thomas, and Lawrence Thomas of Northfield. Doris worked most recently at Harrah’s Casino for 18 years (1980-1998) as a pit clerk, and cashier at Smithville Inn Shops prior to that. A lifetime member of the Van-Kouwenhoven-Conover Family Association. She also was a 34 year member of the Granny Club of Atlantic County. Rev. Norman Thomas, her brother, is the pastor of Conovertown UMC, where Doris attended Sunday School and was a trustee and member of pastor-parish relations committee. Doris loved flowers, nature, traveling, and almost achieved her goal to see every state. She loved the Phillies. Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2008 from 9am until 11am at the Adams- Perfect Funeral Homes 1650 New Rd. Northfield. The funeral service will follow at 11am. Burial will be held at the Absecon Presbyterian Cemetery, Absecon, NJ. Donations can be sent to her church, Conovertown UMC c/o Pastor Norman Thomas 301 W. Revere Avenue, Northfield, NJ 08225.
