Andrea Thomasine Stroud., - 76 of Egg Harbor Twp, NJ, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family and friends on Monday, July 11, 2022. She was born April 14, 1946 in Danville, Virginia. Andrea was the daughter of the deceased Calvin McLindon Stroud, Sr. and Florice Beville Stroud. She was the second of four children born to this union and was affectionately called “Tommie.” She attended the Danville Public Schools. After graduating from John M. Langston High School, she enrolled in Saint Paul’s College in Lawrenceville, Va and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education. She furthered her graduate studies at Glassboro State College (Rowan University) in Glassboro, NJ. She began her teaching career at American Learning System in Washington, DC. and remained a life-long educator until her death. In 1970 Andrea married Abraham Glass and moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey from Washington, DC. After moving to the Jersey Shore, Andrea worked for the Atlantic City Public School System for 40 years as a Business Education School Teacher. She taught grades 9-12 Typewriting, Business Math, General Business and Accounting at Atlantic City High School. Andrea also taught night school and business courses for adults at OIC (Opportunity Industrialization Center). She will always be remembered for being more than a teacher. She was a tremendous role model, a devoted friend, and an unselfish human being who showed affection and love to all she met. Andrea travelled extensively with her beloved friends. She believed that a friend was one of the nicest things you can have, and one of the best things you can be. She was predeceased by her parents, Calvin and Florice Stroud, brothers, Nelson and Frederick Stroud. Andrea leaves to cherish loving memories: one brother, Calvin McLindon Stroud, Jr. of Danville, Va, two nieces, Jacqueline Stroud of Pleasantville, NJ, Andrea J. Stroud of Richmond, Tx, three nephews, Nelson Stroud Jr. of Danville, Va. Maceo and Brian Stroud, Srs. of Greenboro, NC, two loving grandnieces and three loving grandnephews, one great-grandniece, one sister-in-law, Naomi Stroud of Richmond, Tx, several lovely Goddaughters, devoted friends Dr. Ida Butler and Betty Barr and numerous cousins and friends. Services will be held on Saturday, July 23, 2022 from 12:00-1:00pm at the Faith Baptist Church, 829 Tilton Road, Pleasantville, NJ. Andrea will be laid to rest at Oak Hill Cemetery in Danville, Va. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church.
