Obituary for Frank Ralph Grottola

Frank Ralph Grottola
Frank Grottola, 76 of Egg Harbor township, kissed this world goodbye on November 21, 2017 with his loving wife by his side, to meet his sisters Jeanne and Marion and brother-in laws Herb and Ray for a big Italian dinner in heaven.

Survived by his wife, Debbie of 40 years, daughter Mia (daughter-in-law Maura), son Leonard, and dogs Bella and Daisy remain here lovingly recounting a lifetime of memories of a devoted husband and father with a heart bigger than his famous giant bowls of ice cream. He is also survived by children from his first marriage Veronica (grandson Anthony), Leonard, Gary, Michael, Frankie, and Jimmy. He was predeceased by his son, Johnny.

A man of humble beginnings he was born in Atlantic City to Theresa and Frank Grottola, of Italian descent. As a rough and tumble youngster with a big heart and a passion for cars, he set out to help support his family by getting a job in an auto body shop at the young age of 16. He continued to use his skilled hands and mind to build a successful auto body business, Collision Clinic for 30 years until his retirement.

When he wasn’t working hard under the hood of a car, you could be sure to find him on his boat the “Mia Lee,” fishing, hunting, camping, working outside, listening to country music or enjoying a good Italian meal with his family. Some of his proudest moments included: being handed his daughter, Mia for the first time, winning over his future wife Debbie with a freezer full of dixie cups, tasty cakes and charming blue eyes, securing a loan for his first house at age 17, passing down his love for cars with his son Leonard and being able to protect and support his family with his own two hands. He will be lovingly remembered by his sister and brother-in laws as “Frankie” and as “Uncle Frank” by many nieces, nephews and friends for his car sense, generosity, loyalty and sweet demeanor.

Please join us in celebrating a life well lived on Tuesday, November 28th at 12:00pm at The Plumbo Buckley Antique Car Foundation and Museum, 316 Oakland Avenue, Egg Harbor Township. A visitation will be held from 11:00am until the time of the service. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank's name to an Animal Shelter of one's choice.
