George Jones
Jones, George W. - 74 years of age, passed peacefully at home on May 19, 2017.

George was a life long resident of South Jersey, born in Ventnor and raised in Linwood. George attended Linwood Public Schools and was a member of the first graduating class of Oakcrest High School. After graduating from Oakcrest, George proudly served in the U.S. Air Force and the Air Force Reserves.

George was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Herberta. George is survived by his wife, Jane - "the love of his life" - of 52 years. He is also survived by his daughter, Theresa Olden and her husband Joe, grandchildren Zachary Olden and Caitlin Herring and husband Chris, and great grandson, Lucas; his son, Michael of Florida and his children, Alyssa, Samantha, and Michael; his sister-in-law, Nancy Fox (John), nephews Jim Fox (Eileen) and Jeffrey Fox, and niece Lisa Nobel (Rob).

George retired from the City of Linwood after 40 years of service. In those years, George was loved and respected by superiors and co-workers alike. To this day, George is remembered for his fairness and kindness which he extended to everyone he met.

In addition to his beloved immediate family, George had an "extended family" whose love and support made his health issues more bearable. Numbered among those he considered family are former co-workers, former Mayors, many, many friends, and all of the staff at Fitzpatrick's restaurant.
