Obituary for Phyllis M DeFeo (Gaita)

Phyllis M DeFeo (Gaita)
Phyllis (Gaita) DeFeo, of Galloway Twp, passed away peacefully on November 29th surrounded by the love of her family. She was born to the late Felix and Rose Gaita. She had two loving brothers: Joseph Gaita Sr. and the late Samuel Gaita Sr. She is survived by her two loving sons: Ernie Joe DeFeo (Karie) and Carmen DeFeo, and her loving daughter Diane Stollenwerk (Matt). Her most precious and loving grandchildren: Ashley, Nicole, Alex, Johnny, Adele, Michael, Jessica, Jason, Justin ,Constance and Matthew as well as seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was a successful business owner most of her adult life from North Jersey to South. Most recently she and her ex-husband Al DeFeo previously owned Al’s Custard in Galloway and Al’s Luncheonette in Egg Harbor City.

Phyllis’s proudest accomplishment and joy was her beautiful children and their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren, who she poured all her unconditional love, tenderness, wisdom and godly direction to see each one of them succeed. Phyllis loved spending time with her family and friends. Her family and friends will remember how each celebration was planned with such creativity and joy. Each gift was made or chosen with such loving thought.

Phyllis loved to garden. She loved to be around beautiful flowers and watching the birds outside her home. Phyllis especially loved shopping and Black Friday was her favorite, with her daughters Diane and Karie. And of course her favorite son-in-law Matt, as the Chauffer! Phyllis also loved vacationing with her family and was some of her most treasured moments. Especially our yearly trips to see our PA family, Kathleen, Joe and John! Kathleen was like a daughter to Phyllis.

Phyllis will be missed every minute of every day. She was a woman like no other. She gave her family everything she had to give. Her family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses who cared for Phyllis these last two months and for the many prayers and acts of kindness displayed.

A private Celebration of Life for Phyllis will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2017. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Living Faith Chapel, 5200 White Horse Pike, Egg Harbor City, NJ 08215.
