Obituary for Richard S. Jones

Richard S. Jones
Jones, Richard S. (Mick), 77, of Galloway passed away on November 27, 2015 surrounded by his family. Mick was born on April 30, 1938 in Philadelphia and settled with his wife Wanda in Galloway where they began their family.

Mick was the most devoted husband and father anyone could ask for. He spent endless hours on the softball field coaching his children and becoming a mentor to every girl on the team. He dedicated over 15 years to the Galloway Township Athletic Association (GTAA), which allowed him to touch the hearts of so many people.

Mick was a member of the New Jersey Carpenters Local 623/255. His love for woodworking could be seen everywhere you go from his handmade kitchen cabinets to the work in every family members’ home. Mick’s devotion to his wife Wanda let him finally retire in his 70’s, to take care of her. He spent every day caring and loving her until she passed away two years ago on September 27, 2013. His independent nature left him always on the go. Anytime you drove by, you may have seen him out in the yard planting flowers or cutting wood on his sawhorses. If not you may have seen him out on his daily lottery run. He loved spending time with his family. Endless phone calls and visits with his kids, grandkids, and sisters are what kept his broken heart going.

He also found so much comfort in spending time with his sister Marie, going for drives, and out to lunch to see Mel. His trips to the shop will forever be missed. He was so proud of his children and his kind heart will be loved and missed by everyone.

Mick was preceded in death by his parents Richard and Margaret Jones; and the love of his life Wanda.

He is survived by his children, Michelle Purdy (Don), Melonie Siemietkoski (Ed), Matthew Jones, and Michael Jones; 6 grandchildren, Don Jr., Jonathan, Emily, Katelyn, Shawn, and Eddie; sisters, Marie Furmanski and Margaret Dolt; sister in-laws, Pat Westcott (John) and Debbie Culligan; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Rd, in Northfield. A service will follow at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Mays Landing.
Donations can be made in his memory to the Galloway Township Police Department, Galloway Township Ambulance Squad, and the Pomona Fire Department.
