Obituary for Harvey Allen Cox Jr.

Harvey Allen Cox Jr.
Harvey Allen Cox, Jr., 70, passed away May 2, 2015 at his home in Egg Harbor Township, NJ.

After serving in the Navy on the USS America, he found his calling in television news as a Photographer at WAVY TV in 1969 and worked his way up into a long, storied, and award-winning career. Most recently, Harvey spent 10 years as News Director at WMGM in Atlantic City, NJ. He also spent time at KAIT in Jonesboro, AR and WSPA in Greenville-Spartanburg, SC. He won numerous awards for his teams’ local news coverage, including an Emmy at WDBO (now WKMG) in Orlando, FL. Despite the awards, he was most proud of those he mentored and worked with in their careers.

Born February 15, 1945 in Queens, NY, the only thing Harvey loved more than his work and the New York Mets, was his family.

He is survived by the family he adored: his wife of nearly 45 years, Marie A. Cox; his six children: Kerry A. Croucier (Richard), James Cox (Amy), Lynn Wilcox (Charley), Paul Cox (Ellena), Robin Holcomb (Brad), and Robert Cox; and 14 grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will take place on May 7, 2015, Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 614 S. Church Street, Jonesboro, AR 72401 with interment following at Arkansas State Cemetery at Birdeye in Birdeye, AR.
