Holmes, Robert David Sr.,76 native of Philadelphia and long time resident of South Jersey, passed away peacefully on April 7, 2015. He was the son of the late William M. Holmes and Jane Elizabeth McMullen. Bob graduated from Westminster College in 1959 with Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity! He enlisted in the US Navy and was honorably discharged in 1965 and continued to work for many years as an insurance agent.
Bob was an avid Flyers and Eagles fan and a long time supporter of the Boston Red Sox. His love of ball parks brought him all over the country, but it was his annual trip to Fenway that he most looked forward to!
He is survived by his loving companion of many years, Maryclare Hicken. Fond memories of travel all over the world and local travel to theaters and shows will always be cherished. Also surviving is a son, Robert D. Holmes Jr.(Alicia) and a daughter, Karen, as well as their mother Patricia Coll and Bob's sister Marijane(Nanno). Pop-pop also had ten grandchildren-Britt, Tori, Taylor, Luke, Emily, Tessa, Katie, Maddie, Robbie, and Christian, who will miss their visits with him very much.
A funeral mass will be held Saturday, April 11, 2015 at 11 am at St. Joseph Church in Somers Point. The family will be receiving friends from 930 am to 11:00 AM prior to the mass. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Special thanks to staff at Somers Place in EHT for such loving care and concern for our Dad/Pop-pop!!
