Obituary for Frank John Gelona

Frank John  Gelona
Gelona, Frank J., 87 on Sunday, February 15, 2015 passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in Hammonton he moved to Northfield in 1949 and lived there until his passing. He graduated from Hammonton High School in 1945 and was a WWII Veteran serving in the U.S. Army. Frank married Myrtle (Myrt) Nothaft in 1949 and they raised their family in Northfield. He worked for Hagerthey Oil Co. and South Jersey Fuel in Linwood for 35 years; then worked for Caesars Casino in Atlantic City until his retirement in 1992. He was a gentle, caring man, devoted to his family and loved to work in his vegetable garden.

Frank was predeceased by his son, Frank Stephen Gelona and his daughter, Wendy Gelona Tyler.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Myrt, his son, David G. Gelona (Sandi), daughter-in-law Suzanne Gelona, and son-in-law, Jim Tyler; 5 grandchildren; Janice O'Day,(Tom), Christine Emens (Barry), David W. Gelona (Missy), Christopher Gelona (Sandy), and Jennifer Fammia. His is also survived by 7 great grandchildren; Molly, Joshua, Cole, Julia, Lily, Annabelle, Tommy and his longtime friend, Al Albertson.

A visitation will be from 1 pm to 2 pm, on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Rd, in Northfield. A Service will follow at 2 pm. Burial will be held at Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. The family would like to thank the caregivers at Meadowview Nursing Home, AtlantiCare Home Care & Hospice and Visiting Angels.
