Obituary for Leon D Geiger

Leon D  Geiger
Leon Donald Geiger, 78, of Egg Harbor Twp, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017. Born July 30, 1938, in Atlantic City to the late Joe and Gert Geiger. He graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1956 and served in the US Air Force. He married Josie Kendall in 1959 and lived in Atlantic County until 1970, when they moved to Orlando until 1981. Lee pursued his enthusiasm for sports as a sports writer for several newspapers and magazines, a sports radio talk show host , and a boxing matchmaker and promoter. He moved back to Atlantic County in 1981, where he proudly managed and grew his family's limousine service. Lee was a devout Little League coach for 45 years where he mentored and touched the lives of so many children. He was known by many of his teammates as "Mr. Mr. Geiger." Lee was very charitable and took many disadvantaged children into his home to offer them a better life. He was well known for his generosity and kindness and his willingness to help anyone in need. He was a Civil War historian, a lecturer and even authored a book.

Lee is survived by his loving wife Josie; his children, David Geiger (Ellen), Carl Geiger (Angela), Louis Geiger, Michelle Burrows (Kenny), Danny Geiger, and Jerrie Geiger; grandchildren, Lee, Samantha, Joseph, Jessica, and Ashley; great-grandchild, Madeline; siblings, David Geiger, Daniel Geiger, Joseph Geiger, and Naomi Geiger; and cousin, Eilene Erdman.

A viewing will be from 10 am to 11 am, on Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Rd, in Northfield. A service will follow at 11 am. Burial will be at Germania Cemetery in Galloway.
