After his release from active duty he remained in the reserves for many years and advanced to the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He retired in 2000, although he stayed active building numerous boats, including a beautiful Adirondack Guide Boat. He also spent many years working on his and his late wife’s Christmas tree farm in Egg Harbor City.

Bill enjoyed hunting in New York State and Maine with his good friend Robert (Butch) Stewart and others. During the 1970’s he also enjoyed sport fishing on his boat, The Skipjack with his wife Barbara A. Fenton, Bill Martin and other friends.

Every year Bill awaited the arrival of the humming birds and purple martins that he enjoyed. He also had a special place in his heart for his cat companions.

He was predeceased in 2011 by his loving companion of 20 years and wife of 9 years, Gertrude (Trudy) McGuire Fenton.

He is survived by his daughter, Suzanne M. Fenton; ex-wife Peggy Fenton, both of Egg Harbor Township; ex-wife Barbara A. Fenton (his beloved companion until his passing); stepdaughters, Quenby Kotila, Megan Kotila and Anne Rickert; and stepsons, Kevin Meyh and Darrell Meyh.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 4th, at 2:00 pm at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Tuesday. Interment will be at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor, alongside his wife, Trudy McGuire.
