Obituary for Montrey Granville Leopardi

Montrey (Monty) G. Leopardi departed for heaven to join his beloved family on July 25 2022 after a brief illness. Born on January 11 1933 in Pleasantville NJ he was the 2nd child of Ralph Leopardi and Kathleen (Blake) Leopardi. He attended St Peters Catholic Elementary School in Pleasantville. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. In his youth he enjoyed playing baseball and football and later softball. He was known as an outstanding pitcher. He was also known as a champion caliber dart player. He played on his brother (Orvis) “Larneds” softball team leading it to a 27 and 1 record in the 1950s. He loved the Phillies but especially loved the Dallas Cowboys. Many conversations centered on the Cowboys and Eagles rivalry. He worked at Peter Lumber Company in Pleasantville for over 67 years and only recently was fully retired. He was praised in the news for his longevity and dedication to the company. At home, he loved to decorate for Christmas and won many awards from the City of Pleasantville. He loved to grow his annual vegetable garden always having a bountiful harvest he would share and he loved to barbecue. He was a good kind friend to all his neighbors and was quick to lend a hand. He stayed close to his family and friends in Pleasantville for his 89 plus years.
He married Carolina Petrocelli (Lipari) in 1952. They had recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary, another great milestone. Carol and Monty raised three children, Joe, (Diana) (Maureen Fitzpatrick Vitello), Michael, and Kathy. He was the proud pop pop to Pamela(Ted), Amanda, Michael Jr(Crysten), Randy, Jaclyn(Kevin), Cristie, Tina, and Brittny and helped them along the way. He had 14 great grandchildren. He is pre- deceased by brother Orvis who passed just 4 weeks ago and younger brother Ronald (2006), his son Michael (2018) and granddaughters Cristie (2018) and Tina (2018), all whom he loved dearly.
He is survived by his wife Carolina and younger brothers Robert and David Burns of Pleasantville. Viewing will be at Adams/Perfect Funeral Home in Northfield, visitation on 1 August from 6 to 8pm followed by a mass of Christian burial on 2 Aug at 10AM at St Gianna Beretta Molla Parish in Northfield. Interment will be at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetary in Estell Manor.
