With heavy hearts we share the passing of Mercedes Lloren Garcia Caampued on September 9, 2022, at the age of 92. Mercedes (affectionately called Mama Ched by her family) was a loving and generous wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and aunt.
Born September 24, 1929 in Manila, Philippines, Mercedes spent her early life as a teacher, receiving her PhD from the University of Santo Tomas. She believed it was better to give than to receive, especially to those who are financially in need. Mercedes was a thoughtful and benevolent matriarch - like a second mother to her nieces and nephews, and living her later years caring for her family and grandchildren in Linwood, New Jersey. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Mercedes is survived by her son Gabriel Caampued, daughter-in-law Arlene Caampued, and her four grandchildren - Bianca, Orland, Kevin, and Jessica. She was predeceased by her husband Orlando Caampued.
A celebration of Mercedes's life will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 724 Maple Ave, Linwood, NJ, on Saturday, October 8, 2022, with a visitation at 10:00 am and mass at 11:00 am.
