Eleftheriadou-Efstatos, Matina, - 80, of Kozani, Greece, passed away suddenly on January 27, 2022 in Norwalk, CT. Born and raised in Kozani, Matina moved to the United States at the age of 19. Having left Greece at a young age, she embraced the challenge of starting a new life in a foreign land away from her parents, brother and friends. Having lived in many locations throughout the United States, Matina was a dedicated wife and mother committed to the well-being of her family. Her devotion to her children, and their future, always came first. Her children will forever remain grateful for her many sacrifices for their well-being and achievements.
Among her many interests were her commitment to learning the English language, teaching young children in various child care facilities, and simply enjoying the beauty of nature in all the places she visited. Never losing touch with her roots, Greece was always the place she would call home, returning as often as possible to visit family and friends.
Matina is predeceased by her parents George and Areti, and husband Nick. She is survived by her brother Stathis (Dina) Eleftheriadou of Athens, Greece; sons John Efstatos of Norwalk, CT, and George (Donna) Efstatos of Egg Harbor Township; grandchildren Nick and Arianna of Egg Harbor Township; nieces Areti and Iro of Athens, Greece. A private funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
