Mary Graziano of Absecon, passed away Saturday July 30, 2022. She was raised on a farm in Dinwiddie, Virginia with her sister Martha by her foster mother Myra Darby Cleaton. She met her future husband Ben when he was stationed at the Fort Lee Virginia Army Base. Ben said he was going to take her to the “Big City.” He took her to Pleasantville and they were married at Saint Peter’s Church. Though it was hard to leave the Dinwiddie family she loved she fit right into Ben’s big Italian family. Family gatherings with the Graziano’s, Falivene’s, Ragno’s, and DeSimone’s were priceless. Mary had many accomplishments. She was owner and operator of Tres Chic and Tiffany Manor Clothing Shops in Absecon and Shore Mall and was later employed by Absecon Shop Rite Deli. She was awarded “Outstanding Citizen of the Year” in 1999 by the VFW and “Citizen of the Year” in 1999 by the Absecon Lions Club. She was the Absecon Shade Tree Committee Director who with a dedicated team of volunteers developed and beautified Absecon’s Heritage Park. But her most rewarding work was for the Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church Social Action Committee. Whether it was finding someone a wheelchair, collecting and delivering Plates for Christ for seniors, shut-ins, and others in need, gathering baby items for a young mom, and collecting special items for the nursing homes, women’s center, and the Rescue Mission, Mary made a difference in people’s lives. Mary lived by Matthew 25:40, “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” Mary is survived by daughter, Myra Jo Cook and her husband Joseph, son, Vincent and his wife Suzanne and grandsons Michael and Steven. She is preceded in death by her husband Ben of 53 years, sisters Martha Hudson and Shirley Sheffield and brother Lewis Mosely, and foster mother Myra D. Cleaton, all formerly of Dinwiddie, Virginia. She will be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews Joanne Faden, Vicky and Art Lutz, John and Diane Falivene, Jim Falivene and Maria, Jerry and Stephanie Falivene, Joanne and Jim Shilling, and Terry and Steve Dougherty. She will also be sadly missed by the Ragsdale and Cleaton families, especially Scott and Linda Ragsdale and their families. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at Spring Home at Galloway and Grace Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday August 4th, 2022 at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 591 New Jersey Avenue, Absecon at 11:00 AM with a viewing from 10-11 AM prior to the Mass .
