Obituary for Mark Edward Breslin

Mark Breslin, 76, of Absecon, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 29.

Mark was born January 31, 1947 in Philadelphia. He grew up as an Army brat, living all over the world from Virginia and California to Japan, Ecuador and Panama. He was a talented athlete in his youth and was passionate about playing basketball and baseball wherever he lived. Mark raised his two daughters as strong athletes – supporting his oldest daughter, Kelly, as a gymnast and spending countless hours coaching his youngest daughter, Jill, in tennis. He was a very proud father who cheered Jill onto become the 1993 NJ State Tennis Champion and receiving a full tennis scholarship to the University of Alabama where she played #1 singles, and celebrated Kelly who graduated law school top of her class. Their achievements were also Mark’s achievements as an incredibly dedicated, present father. Mark was also a devoted husband to his wife of 49 years Barbara. He prided himself on maintaining a well-cared-for home. He spent a lot of time creating a beautiful Japanese garden in his backyard, influenced by his time living in Japan, and feeding the visiting birds.
Mark was incredibly hard-working. He spent his life in the construction industry and was a skilled sheet metal mechanic, most recently working for Four Seasons Heating and Air Conditioning. He frequently used his skills to help friends and family with their home needs. He was happy to pass along some of his knowledge to his son-in-law Marius in recent years. He had a great group of loyal friends and family members who he enjoyed lots of good conversations with leading up to his passing. He loved walking his best buddy, Bama. He was also a lifelong Yankees fan and loved Alabama football since his daughter attended school there. He also loved seeing his granddaughter Ruby growing day by day.
Mark is survived by his wife Barbara and his daughter Kelly and son-in-law Marius; his daughter Jill and son-in-law Ray; his granddaughter Ruby; and his sister-in-law Pat. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Edward and Miriam Breslin. Memorial services will be private to his family.
Our thanks to Angelic Care and the amazing hospice caretakers who helped Mark through his final days.
