Margaret L. Herman-Angely (nee Cook) of North Plainfield, NJ passed peacefully on February 25, 2023 at the age of 97.
Born in Texas on April 26, 1925, Margaret was a “war bride.” She met her future husband, Louis Herman, in Childress, Texas, where he was stationed during World War II. They married in 1944 and moved to Atlantic City after the war.
Margaret was always the gracious host, whether at the Alamo Guesthouse in Atlantic City, the Golden Keys Motel in Egg Harbor Township, or her home with husband Louis Herman for 48 years.
Margaret was received into fellowship at Zion United Methodist Church in Bargaintown NJ in 1986. She was responsible for the Sunday and Holiday floral decorations for many years. There she led a group of quilters who produced a commemorative quilt for the church. Quilting and embroidery were hobbies of Margaret’s and she produced many beautiful pictures and pillows for gifts and to decorate her home.
A few years after Margaret was widowed in 1993, she met a widower named Paul Angely. They fell in love and were married in 1996 and were together for almost 15 years until his death in 2010.
In 2012 Margaret moved to Central Jersey to live with her daughter Gwyn and family. She was received as a member of Watchung Avenue Presbyterian Church.
Margaret was predeceased by all her siblings: Lee A. Cook, Eula Jean Sackett, Betty Sue Koeller and Jimmy Cook. Margaret is survived by her children: Rick Herman (and wife Beverly), Gwyn Gronlund (and husband Bruce), and Steven Herman (and wife Mildred). She was blessed with six grandchildren: Jennifer Gronlund Campbell, Mark Gronlund, Perry Herman, Rachel Herman, Tim Herman and Sarah Juenemann, and three great-grandchildren: Ella, Thomas and James.
A Memorial Celebration of Life service will be held at a later date.
