Lorenzo Lee Woods, the first of three children, was born on Tuesday September 16, 1975 in Birmingham Alabama to Willie Lee Woods Jr. and Barbara Ardell Woods.
Lo, as many called him, was educated through the Egg Harbor Twp. Public Schools. He attended Egg Harbor Township Highschool and graduated in 1993. Immediately after, *emphasis on immediate* (lol) he moved to Atlanta Georgia where he attended Clark Atlanta University. While in Atlanta he grew into the man we are here to pay respects to today. There his soul was free, free to explore culture, fashion, food, and people. In the midst of this transformation, he worked in the restaurant industry where his infectious smile, outgoing personality, love of people, and inquisitive nature reigned supreme. The relationships and experience there was monumental, the seed had found fertile soil and began to develop roots. After Georgia, he decided to move to California. Sunny California where his bright smile fit in perfectly and so
did he. There the seed began to take form, the man of confidence and choice began to take hold.
California was a perfect spot, where else can you go to the beach everyday, donning the most stylish
glasses and wear as little clothes as possible. *(Insert Laughter Here)* Lorenzo was a man full of spirit,
his “why not” attitude towards life allowed him to shine just like that California Sun! After a few laps
around the sun out west, he decided to move back to the east coast N.Y.C. A culmination of all the things
that made him special, of course he would choose this place above all else. More refined he set his
sights on a career, but that would not only provide a life for him but also feed his lifestyle and that was as
a Flight Attendant, for JetBlue Airlines where he spent over 15 years. Attacking the city with lessons he
learned from the places he had been and the people he gleaned from, with the metals he wore around his
neck of the victories in life he had won and the scars for the battle that come when you fight. And fight he
did, like Opera in The Color Purple; one of his favorites films. He was determined to prove to himself that
he wasn’t that same kid from high school coming up on the weekend trying to find his way. He was
grown, tested, and strong enough to handle what the city had to throw at him. And the people who had
an opportunity to, hit the avenue shopping with him, sit across from him at a restaurant, or probably best
of all enjoying night life, seeing him joke, laugh, and dance. You knew who was winning.
Lorenzo was a “Renaissance Man” maybe not in the common or conventional way, but what else would
you call a person that could tell you what type of engine a car might have driving down the street or how
fast it might go from zero to 60. How about the best way to prepare the perfect rack of lamb, what
temperature you need to aim for and what to pair with it. Here's another one, all the reasons why you
don't wear that shirt with those shoes or how the quality of that brand isn’t superior compared to the other.
Or what about not just when and where you should travel, but the best way to enjoy yourself when you
go. His ability to discuss political, social, and environmental issues, as if he was running for office; “ So
wait I shouldn’t shop at Wal-Mart because of what now?” That was Lorenzo, a person that was Proud of
who he was, what he believed in and the people he loved.
Lorenzo leaves to cherish his memory, his father Willie L. Woods Jr and mother Barbara Ardell Woods; an
younger sister Martinique Ardell Woods; a younger brother Willie L. Woods 3rd; three Nephews; Ronald
Jerome Greene 3rd; Julien Nicholas Woods and Jackson Bryant Woods; Sister-in Law Karina C. Pollard
and a host to cousins, friends, aunts and uncles.
