Obituary for Leonida Rodriguez

On Monday, November 16, 2020, Leonida Rodriguez, loving wife and mother of 12 children, passed away at the age of 71.
Leonida was born on January 17, 1949 in Puerto Rico to Bonifacio and Generosa Rodriguez. It was there where she met and married Enrique Acosta. They then moved to New York where they raised five sons and six daughters- Angel, Lucy, Carmen, Luis, Enrique, Maribel, Eddy, David, Maritza, Miriam and Marilyn. Subsequently, she remarried to Carlos Nicasio and had a son Alberto. In May 1990, she met the love of her life Carlos Quinones in which they shared a lifetime of memories and happiness.
Leonida had a passion for family. She was a provider for her 12 children and loved to spend time with them and her grandchildren. Even while raising a family she found time to go back to school and earn her degree at Monroe College in New York. She retired from Stockton University in 2017 and lived out the remainder of her years enjoying time with family and friends. Thanksgiving has always been a special time for her as that is when family gets together and spends time around the table sharing laughs and making memories. She was an avid collector of Betty Boop memorabilia and probably had one of the biggest collections. If you ever had a sad day, she would be the one to give you a hug, tell you everything will be ok and bring that smile out in you. She was known for her quick wit, her infectious smile and her kind and compassionate spirit.
Leonida was preceded in death by her Father, Mother, and sons Angel and Luis. She is survived by her loving husband Carlos, her brother Bonafico (Uncle Bobby), 10 children- Lucy, Carmen, Enrique, Maribel, Eddy, David, Maritza, Miriam, Marilyn, Alberto, and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020 from 12pm to 2pm with a service to follow at 2pm at the Adams Perfect Funeral Home. Burial will follow immediately at the Atlantic City Cemetery.
