Wakefield, Lawrence S., 80 of Pleasantville, slipped away from this earthly life on Friday, July 25, 2014 at home.

Born November 8, 1933 in Jenkinjones, WV to the late Albert, Sr. and Pansy (nee Hampton) Wakefield. Lawrence was educated in the Pleasantville School system, graduated, then served in the US Army. He was a member of Local 415 Laborers Union for over 25 years until retirement.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his companion, Joanne Byrd of Mays Landing; grandchildren: Edna Wakefield Terry (Earl), Tia Wakefield, Kwan, Brian and Lawrence Wakefield; five great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one son-in-law; four sisters: Loretta Oglesby, Ruth Self, Brenda Wakefield, and Terrie Street; two brothers, Albert, Jr. and Kenneth Wakefield; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 1, 2014 at 11:00am at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. A viewing will be held from 10:00am until the time of the service. Interment will follow.
