Vance, Joseph Gernell was born to Frank and Erma Lee Vance on July 3rd 1960, in Philadelphia, PA. Joseph passed away on Tuesday Sept. 13, 2022. He was one of four children.

Joseph was educated in the Philadelphia school district. He attended Bryant/Patterson Elementary school, commodore John Barry Elementary school and West Philadelphia High School and transferred to Pleasantville High School.

Joseph was raised in a close-knit family. He enjoyed being around his children nieces and nephews. He had a love for helping others by talking to people and showing kindness. Everyone knew him for his loving smile and personality. He also had a love for music, sports and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Joseph came to learn about Jehovah at the age of ten years old. He looked forward to attending the yearly conventions. He also enjoyed spending time with the brothers and sisters. Joseph was an employee of First National Bank in Pleasantville, NJ where he worked for ten years, from 1987 to 1997. He also worked at Ashly Furniture for a period of four years. He was known for being a hard worker.

Joseph was preceded in death by his father Frank Vance, who passed away in 2000; his grandmother, Alma Johnson, who passed away in 1979; his grandfather, Astor Johnson, who passed away in 1996, both of Pleasantville, New Jersey; as well as one sibling, Vernell Self-Vance (Kay-Kay) who passed away April 14, 2018.

He leaves behind his mother, Erma Lee Vance; and three daughters, Leah, Ashley and Cheyenne; two grandchildren, Aiden and Jaiden; two siblings, Franklin Vance and Miles James Vance; his uncles, Joseph Johnson and James (Jimmy) Johnson; and aunt Carolyn Johnson. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other close family and friends.
