Obituary for Joseph Michael Cherry Sr.

Joseph Cherry, Sr. 68, passed away peacefully at home on November 2, 2020 from complications caused by Parkinson’s Disease. Joe was born on January 26, 1952 to the late Charles Cherry and Pauline Cherry (Judge).
Joe is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patricia (Byrd), and his loving children who will miss him immensely: Joseph Cherry Jr. of Egg Harbor City, and Rachel DiAngelo (husband Drew) of Houston, TX and his three granddaughters Julia, Alyssa, and Isabella. He is also survived by nine siblings: Charles from Wailuku, HI; James (wife Ruth) from Feasterville, PA; Brenda Barden from Coopersburg, PA; John (wife Linda) from Sarasota, FL; Pauline Wilcox (husband Anthony) from Forest City, PA; Mark from Philadelphia, PA; Alice Lamb from Abington, PA; Paul from Mechanicsburg, PA; Raymond (wife Kelly) from Bensalem, PA. Joe was also uncle to many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Joe is predeceased by his sister Linda Lee.
Joe was an active member of his church, Calvary Chapel Gateway, in Northfield, NJ and focused much of his volunteer work on feeding the homeless in Atlantic City. Joe also was a huge fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and had a lifelong love for baseball. He also enjoyed gardening, was an avid reader and had a love of history.
Joe graduated from Bensalem High School where he was class president for the class of 1969. He then pursued a degree in history at Wheaton College and Shippensburg University, but chose to leave college to start his family. Joe worked in many different fields throughout his life, but was most proud of being a founding member of SmartLife Insurance Company with his son.
