Obituary for John M. Rush

John Rush was born on October 5, 1945 and he passed away on May 9, 2018 at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.

He was raised in Atlantic City and graduated from Atlantic City High School. He was a true American who enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1965. He was loyal to his country and did a tour in Vietnam. In 1969 he married the love of his life, Ellen (Sochocky), and he had two amazing kids who were the apple of his eyes. His oldest, Candace DeLuccia (Michael) and his youngest, Doug Rush (Nicole). His most prized possessions that he will guide over are his three beautiful grandbabies: Emilee DeLuccia (15), Michael DeLuccia (12), and Adalyn Rush (1). He is also survived by his siblings, George Rush and Kathy Verdine (John); and many nieces and nephews (Rush and Sochocky families), sisters-in law and brothers-in-law.

He was predeceased by his parents, Florence (Spragg) and George Rush; Robert, William, Richard, James, and Ronald Rush, Judith Aberman and Dorothy Claycomb.

He was a graduate of Atlantic Cape Community and Richard Stockton College. John lived a full and happy life, living it to the fullest. He was either hanging with family or drinking with friends at the Tilton or VFW. He also gave back to the Vets, whether it was organizing parades, golf outings, or holiday parties for the Veteran homes.

He will be greatly missed by all that loved him. We love you and will miss you always, Poppie Johnnie Rush!! Semper Fi.

A viewing will be from 9 am to 11 am on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. A service will follow at 11 am. Burial with military honors will be held at Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery in Estell Manor.

In lieu of flowers, the family will be collecting donations in order to donate to one of the many Veterans charities that John was involved with.
