Obituary for Janice Evelyn Burke (Frahm)

Janice Evelyn Burke (nee Frahm) left this earth for her ultimate reward on 2/15/2021. Janice grew up in Hoboken, New Jersey with her sister, Wilma, in the 1930s during a time of great upheaval and uncertainty, (The Great Depression) not too dissimilar to today. She inherited her mother’s inner strength and her father‘s sense of humor. As a career girl, Mom entered the banking industry rising through the ranks to become a branch manager. In 1950, she met the love of her life, James Burke, and started a family in Jersey City. First came “Irish Twins“ Jim Junior and Paul and then Elizabeth, affectionately known as Liz. The bulk of this new life was spent in Bergen County, New Jersey in the towns of Park Ridge and Hillsdale. After the passing of Jim senior in 1997, Janice relocated to Linwood, New Jersey where she thrived for the past 21 years. She loved the Ocean City Boardwalk and Kennedy Park in Somers Point, NJ, where she went to relax and recharge. Janice was an independently minded person who expressed her beliefs openly and frequently. She relished her independence and, like her greatest generation, pushed through adversity fearlessly with a “can do” attitude. Mom was that flower in your garden that pops up, different from the rest, and stands out for all to see and love. There will never be another like her! She leaves behind to cherish her memories: sons Jim and Paul Burke, her daughter Liz Zwingli, grandchildren Jordan, Ryan, Justin, Matthew, Meagan, Katherine, and 7 great grandchildren. A viewing will be held from 9-10:30 Am at Adams Perfect Funeral Home, Northfield, NJ. Services will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Linwood, NJ at 11AM. Please wear a mask. Burial will take place at 2PM at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ. 08562.Donations can be made to the Ocean City Humane Society, 1 Shelter Road, Ocean City NJ, 08226
