NEY, JAMES HOWLETT (JIMMY), - 73, of Egg Harbor Township, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 6 surrounded by his loving family. Jim grew up in Atlantic City and attended Our Lady Star of the Sea and Holy Spirit High School, class of 1962, and received a B.S. in Business Administration from Marquette University.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Marie of 51 years, and his three children Linda (Burt), Jimmy (Kathy), and Michael (Kelly). He was the best Poppop ever to his 7 grandchildren Taylor, Brandon, Connor, Brielle, Sarah, Michael, and Madison. Jim is the son of the late Rita (Howlett) Ney and Martin Ney. He was predeceased by his brother Martin Ney and his sister Joanne Ney. He is survived by his sisters Carol (Bill), Nancy, and Terry (Jim). He also leaves his sister-in-law Joan (Frank) and his brother-in-law Anthony (Ellen). In addition, Jim leaves many nieces, nephews, friends, and his beloved poodle Pepsi. He will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.
Jim, his wife and children lived in several different places including Nutley, New Jersey and Londonderry, New Hampshire returning home to South Jersey in 1998. Jim was employed by Kmart for 40 years where he managed several different stores and was also a District/Regional Manager. After retiring from Kmart, he enjoyed driving a school bus in EHT for the last 11 years, bus #75 this year.
Jim spent endless summer days at the beach in Ventnor where he enjoyed body surfing, kayaking, swimming, playing games with his grandchildren, including splashing them, and passing on his love of the beach. Most importantly he loved spending time with his family. Jim also enjoyed staying very active bike riding, working out, and traveling. He was very energetic, hardworking, and touched many lives with his kindness, humor, and passion for life.
Visitation will be held at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Atlantic City on Wednesday June 13th from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, followed by 11:00 am mass. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mays Landing.
