Obituary for James Edward Harlan Sr.

James "Jim" E. Harlan Sr., 77, of Egg Harbor Township, passed away peacefully after a brief illness with his family by his side on December 14th, 2022. He will be remembered as an honest man, faithful husband, loving father and grandfather/great grandfather; as well as for his infinite wisdom and "Jim-isms". He is predeceased by his parents, Charles N. and Eleanor M. Harlan Sr., his brothers, Charles N. "Buddy" Harlan Sr, Joseph F. Harlan, and sister RoseMarie Jones. He was born and raised in Linwood. After graduating Mainland High School in May 1963, he graduated from Cape May County Votech. He enlisted in the Navy and served 1966 to 1968 active duty on the Detector MSO-429, honorably discharged in 1972 as an ET-3. He was employed as an IUEC Local 5 Elevator mechanic for 36 years, retiring in 2004. Jim loved turkey shooting, spending time in Maine and spending time with his family. Jim is survived by his loving wife Christine (nee Hall) of 56 years; his two sons James Jr. (Kim Moore) and David (Gwendolyn) and his daughter Andrea (Mike) Pagano, His grandchildren Zachary (Kelly Rosenbeck), Kayla (Mark) Holman, Tyler (Cailyn), Kaitlyn (Nathan) Zimmerman and Michael (Gabrielle) Pagano Jr., His great grandsons Landon Zimmerman and Logan Holman, His sisters, Joan Stokes, Maryann Woolbert, Dorothy McCloy, Carol Coyle and many cousins, nieces and nephews as well as extended family. Friends and family are invited to pay their respects on December 20th, 2022 from 10am until the time of service at noon at Adams Perfect Funeral Home at 1650 New Road, Northfield, NJ 08225. Interment will be held at Zion Cemetery with The Last Salute immediately following the services.
