Obituary for James Charles Bednar

In Loving Memory of James Charles Bednar, who passed on August 3rd 2023. James, also known as “Bo” to his coworkers, was devoted to family and friends, loved dogs, and possessed a quick wit, finding humor in any situation.

Born on July 8th 1937 to John and Helen (Baksa) Bednar in Piney Fork, Ohio. He grew up with two brothers, John and Eugene, and attended Smithfield High School. James played halfback for his high school in the 1950s which resulted in a lifelong enthusiasm for football (Go Buckeyes!).From 1955 to 1958, James served in the Navy and was stationed at Sangley Point in the Philippines. It was during his Naval service that he learned his craft as an air traffic controller. He worked with the Federal Aviation Administration in South Jersey for a career
that would span 40 years.He devoted his retirement years toward enjoying his passions; family, his grandchildren, get-togethers with previous coworkers, and was also known to place a bet or two at the
casinos.

James was preceded in death by son David James Bednar, and will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Elaine (Andres) Bednar; children Christopher Bednar, Kim (Bednar) Mazak, and step-son Paul Lowe; grandchildren Alyssa, Alexander, Michael, David, Christopher James (CJ), Joana, Loscena, Eric, Lavena, Brianna, and Brandon.To Dad - you will forever live on in our hearts, and the memory of your voice make us smile even as we grieve your passing. Rest easy knowing that you have left this world with fond
memories and our enduring love.

A celebration of life will be held at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield, NJ, on Tuesday, August 8th, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:00am. Interment will take place Tuesday, August 8th, 2023 12:45pm at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, 109 State Route 50, Estell Manor, NJ
