Obituary for Jacqueline Marie Pyle

Jacqueline M. Pyle (Mallen), 70 passed away late Sunday, January 16, 2022 in her home.

Jackie was raised in Pleasantville, the daughter of John and Irene Mallen and was one of seven siblings. They lived next to Saint Peter’s School and the running joke was that despite being a stone’s throw away from the building, she was late to school most days. We used to laugh and share that story but what we know for certain is that she showed up day in and day out on time and usually quite early for everyone around her.

She graduated from Holy Spirit High School where she was in the color guard. Bowling was her favorite pastime; she often bowled with her husband and owned her own bag and ball. Jackie was also a master crafter, making the most amazing holiday decorations when we were kids. She was great with sewing and embroidery projects.

She regularly volunteered at her children's schools and then returned to work once they were older. She worked at Mike’s Deli and Tilton Market and customers would wait in line to be served by Jackie. She took pride in her work and cared greatly for her customers. Later in life, Jackie took care of the aging and then worked in an Optometrist's office.

Jackie loved to spend time on the Ocean City beach and boardwalk. Her favorite places to eat were Tony’s Baltimore Grill and Mays Landing Pub with her family.

Being a grandmother was the greatest joy of her life and she wanted to be there for every moment, big or small. Just seeing her grandkids grow and be creative gave her much happiness. FaceTime and Facebook allowed her to see more of her grandkids and she loved all the pictures and videos that were shared.

She is predeceased by her parents; her mother-in-law, Josephine Pyle; her siblings, Joan Mallen, Albert Mallen, Janet Martyn, and Janice Fenton; and her nephew, Albert Mallen Jr.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Robert Pyle Sr.; daughter Maryanne Black; son, Rob Pyle Jr. and daughter-in-law, Kelly Pyle; grandchildren Kaleigh Black, Jeremy Black, Brayden Pyle, Nathan Pyle, and Kaitlyn Pyle; her sisters Jane Ellenbart and Joyce Addario; brothers-in-law, Frank Martyn, Charlie Ellenbart, Ric Fenton, and Lou Addario; sister-in-law, Peggy Mallen-Walczak, and countless wonderful cousins, nieces and nephews in NJ, MD, PA, MN, and FL who all mattered to her very much.

She was a kind-hearted giving person and had immense empathy and compassion for others. No matter how you knew her, she’s hard to forget; big in stature, big in heart. We will always love you.
