Obituary for Gary Edson McCormick

McCormick, Gary Edson (89) of Pleasantville passed away September 14, 2022 peacefully at home surrounded by family. Born March 7, 1933 in Coshocton Ohio to Nellie (Cox) and Charles McCormick. Gary joined to US Navy in 1952 serving during the Korean War. He was part of the Air Department of the “Champ”, an air craft carrier ship, specifically working as a marshaller on the flight deck. He was later based at the Naval Air Station Atlantic City in EHT, NJ. Here is where he met his life long love Doris (Connelly) marrying her in 1953. They settled in Pleasantville, having 2 sons and a daughter. Upon his military discharge, he became a roofer and sheet metal laborer. He did this work until he found his ultimate calling. In 1965 he became a volunteer fire fighter for the city of Pleasantville taking a full time position in 1967. He worked up to the Rank of Captain and was a fire inspector for the city. He loved this department and his brothers so much after 32 years of service, he continued to spend time at the fire house with them and always had his scanner on. During his retirement he perfected his golf game, spent many hours fishing, and loved spending time with his family. Gary is predeceased by his wife Doris (Connelly) McCormick, Sister Carol (McCormick) Cantlebury, Brother Larry McCormick, Son’s Gary McCormick ,Stephen McCormick Sr and son in law Daniel Dutton Sr. He will be deeply missed by his Daughter Irene (McCormick) Dutton, Granddaughters Stephanie (Steve) Adair, Nicole Dutton, Grandsons Daniel Dutton Jr, Stephen McCormick Jr, Bryan (Jess) McCormick, Matthew McCormick, Sister Linda McCormick, and many Great Grandchildren, family and friends. The Family of Gary would like to thank Visiting Angels of Atlantic County, Township of Hamilton Rescue, Dorothy Rescue Squad, and Angelic Hospice for their exceptional care.
