Obituary for Francis A. Diefenbeck

Francis “Frank” Diefenbeck, 91, of Egg Harbor Township, peacefully passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022, after a long and happy life spent with his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends. Frank was born in Atlantic City, then moved to Northfield and lived the last 20 years in Egg Harbor Twp. He was a proud veteran, serving in the United States Army during the Korean War as a paratrooper in the 187th Airborne. He was an active member in multiple organizations including the Jaycee’s, Lions Club, and the Masons (Trinity Lodge #79, EHT), where he was a Past Master. Frank was also a board member with the Career Opportunity Development Inc (CODI). Frank worked for decades for his family business, Shore Sign Service, before retiring to enjoy time with his family and friends. One could find Frank sitting in his sunroom with Barbara enjoying a Gin and Tonic, watching the boats pass by on Patcong Creek. He loved boating and fishing, building his first boat at age 16 in his family’s garage. Frank and Barbara spent many wonderful days on their boats, and “Pop Pop” always loved teaching his children and grandchildren his techniques on boating and fishing, whether sharing a secret location to fish or how to tie a boating knot.

Frank is survived by his wife of 60 years, Barbara, his three children Kathleen Diefenbeck, Susan Mooney (Jack) and David Diefenbeck (Cynthia) and five grandchildren: Timothy Mooney (Samantha), Corinne Mooney, and Evan, Lily, and OIivia Diefenbeck.

The family is having a private ceremony and will scatter his ashes on the waterways that he loved in the Spring.
