Elizabeth B. Jones (Banks)
Susan Elizabeth "Liz" Jones, 89, of Linwood passed away peacefully on June 2, 2018. She was born outside of New Bern, NC on June 22, 1928. Liz attended Kings Business College in Raleigh and worked for the New Bern Chamber of Commerce. Her life would change when she met and married her soulmate Isaac “Ike” Jones in September 1951. The Navy sent them to Pensacola, Chicago, Patuxent River, Quonset Point, and finally to Naval Air Station Atlantic City. They settled in Northfield on Cedarbridge Road where Liz raised her four children and was the Best Mom to them and their friends and neighbors with an ever-present smile and a sweet Southern drawl. After Ike retired, she went back to work, managing a card shop in Somers Point. She was a long- time member of Linwood Community Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and led a weekly bible study at a local nursing home. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her precious grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Lillie Maoma and Paul Lewis Banks, her husband of 62 years, I.O. “Ike” Jones and her brothers Paul Banks and Carlton Banks.

She is survived by her children, Milton Jones, Frank Jones, John Jones (Caryll), and Marie Fein (Steven), with whom she lived. Her brothers Jesse Banks, Franklin Dellano Banks (June), Joseph Banks (Dot), and her sister Ruth Moore (Gerald). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Ryan Jones, Jeffery Jones, Stephanie Jones, Evan Fein, and Jack Fein. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 am, on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at Garber United Methodist Church, 4201 Country Club Rd, New Bern, NC 28562 and she will be laid to rest with Ike at Arlington National Cemetery.
