Obituary for Eleanor Marie Brown (Garwood)
Eleanor Marie Brown (Garwood), 98, of Mays Landing, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on January 20, 2021 surrounded by family.
For over 30 years Eleanor was Secretary to the Superintendent of the Linwood Public Schools. She loved reading a good book on the beach, Nascar, Pro Golf and was an avid Philadelphia sports fan, often attending Flyers games. Eleanor enjoyed her summers on the coast of Maine where many friendships were made along with her winter trips to Florida.
Her passing was preceded by her beloved husband, Robert W. (Brownie) Brown; parents, Helen D. and Japhet Garwood; and brother, Byron Garwood. Eleanor is survived by her children, George Gates of Florida, Helen McCarthy of Mays Landing, and Thomas Gates (Barbara) of Absecon; and grandchildren, Karen Gates, Charles Sean McCarthy, Thomas Gates II (Joanne) and Jason Gates.
Graveside Services and Burial will be private due to COVID restrictions. Our family extends sincere thanks to all those who cared and comforted our Mother Eleanor on her final journey. In her memory, donations may be sent to the Township of Hamilton Rescue Squad, 1400 NJ-50, Mays Landing, NJ 08330.
