Obituary for Eleanor Ruth "Dolly" Antorino

Eleanor Ruth “Dolly“Antorino, age 88 from Egg Harbor Township (Bargintown) passed away on January 11, 2023. Eleanor was born on May 13, 1934, Mother’s Day in Atlantic City, NJ to parents Erma and Frederick Schnaufer. Dolly was predeceased by her parents, four brothers, two sisters and her beloved husband Sonny.

At age 17, while attending a party in McKee City, she met Salvatore “Sonny” Antorino. It was love at first sight. Sonny ended up being Dolly’s first and only boyfriend. Dolly and Sonny were married in Alabama on April 3,1951 and ended up living on Poplar Ave where Dolly was born and lived all her life. Dolly is survived by her four loving sons Daryl, John, Mike, and Chip as well as their families which include her daughters-in-law, Cathy and Roberta, Her grandchildren; Jill, John, Amber, Michael, Connor, Katie, Tyler, Casey, her great grandchildren, Morgan, Bobbie, Billy, Brianna, Allison, and Liam and her great, great grandchild Myla Rae.

Dolly was close to many extended family members but her niece, Bobbie Roppa, was her most loyal and cherished friend. They enjoyed many good times over the years.

Dolly had many jobs, but her favorite was working at Tropicana Casino in A.C. where she made many loving and lasting friendships. Her good friend Ada DeJesus became the daughter she never had. To this day, after retiring 25 years ago, Dolly receives calls and cards from her many friends from the Trop.

Dolly’s family was her greatest joy. Working all day, then taking her four sons to sport practices and games, making dinner, and taking care of Sonny. Dolly never complained. Having family dinners and pool parties was always a favorite of Dolly. She enjoyed her home and yard and enjoyed her hummingbirds and fishpond. Everyone was always welcome in her home.
