Obituary for Earline Mae Kidd (Grant)

Earline Mae Kidd affectionately known by family as “Nana,” 82 of Atlantic City, New Jersey was welcomed to Heaven’s Gates on May 11, 2022. Nana was born on October 16, 1939, to Rosetta “Missy” Grant and Earl Grant Sr.

Nana attended and graduated from Atlantic City Public Schools. Nana worked as a seamstress, at a tailor shop, which she co-owned with her grandmother Lillian “Gram” Grant. She also worked in the casino industry for several decades. Nana later moved to North Carolina, where she retired from Wake Medical Hospital as a supervisor in housekeeping, before returning back to her hometown.

Nana was known for her sassiness, style, and passion for sewing and love of fishing. Being of Catholic faith, she attended St. Monica of Atlantic City, N.J.

Preceding her in the after life are her parents Rosetta and Earl Sr.; and her brother Teddy and her grandmother Lillian. Nana leaves to cherish her loving memory her brother Earl Jr. (Kim), her beloved daughter Jo Ann Byrd (Oscar), her grandchildren, Nicole, Anthony (Jon’Ta) and Jillian; great grandchildren Kameesha (Quason), Harry, Anthony Jr., Shaquan, Ja’Naad, Za’Qim, Jabril, Nia; and great great grandchildren Qua’Lee and Khazarrah. Also left to cherish her memory are special family members Louise Bishop and Michael McCants.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 from 2-4pm at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road in Northfield. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
