Obituary for Dorothy Walsh (Smith)
Dorothy T. Walsh, age 95, of Linwood, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on February 28, 2023, after a recent hospitalization. She was born March 7, 1927 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, the daughter of George and Margaret Smith.
While growing up in Atlantic City, she attended St. Nicholas elementary and Holy Spirit High School. Following school, she went to work for New Jersey Bell as a switchboard operator. After WWII, she married her long time sweetheart, John Walsh, and they settled in Atlantic City, where she was blessed with 6 children. They celebrated 55 years of marriage before John’s passing in 2003. Dorothy devoted her life to her children and grandchildren. She was a long time member of Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Atlantic City, and most recently, a loyal member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Linwood NJ.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her daughter Mary Catalano, sisters Margaret McCarson and Rita Coates, and brother George Smith. She is survived by her brother Jack Smith, her daughters Kathleen Saveriano (Brad), Marguerite Corcoran (Rich), Patricia Felmly (Bill), and her sons John Walsh, and Michael Walsh (Margaret). She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday 3/7/2023 at 10-11 am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Linwood, NJ, followed by a mass of Christian Burial. Internment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mays Landing, NJ at 12:30 pm.
