Obituary for Donald C. DaGrossa

Donald  C.  DaGrossa
DaGrossa, Donald Craig, 79, passed away at home in Egg Harbor Township on June 8, 2018. He was born in Atlantic City and raised in Linwood, where he resided until moving to EHT in 2004. He was a graduate of the Linwood Public Schools and Pleasantville High School, Class of 1957. He joined the Navy Reserves in 1956, served active duty for two years aboard the USS Alacrity, and returned to serve in the reserves. Donald worked for NCR, National Unlimited Business Systems, and the Linwood Volunteer Fire Company. He was a life member of the Linwood Rescue Squad and Linwood Volunteer Fire Company, for which he served as chief from 1991 to 1994. Upon moving to EHT, he joined the Scullville Fire Company. He served on the Board and was a staff fire instructor for the Atlantic County Fire Training Center. He was a member of Central Methodist Church.

Among Donald's enjoyments in life were hunting, fishing, woodworking, being a teacher and volunteer fire fighter, good food, and the company of his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by parents Carman and Emma DaGrossa, and is survived by wife Penny; sister Marion DaGrossa (Nancy Gabriel); daughters Pamela DaGrossa (Leslie Poland), Bethani DaGrossa (Joe Tusa), and Karen Renzulli (Tom Renzulli); grandchildren Katii, Lauren, and Aimee; brothers-in-law George Stamps (Carolyn), Raymond Stamps (Cynthia), and Gary Stamps (Jewel Cooper); as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also missing him is his canine companion Herbie.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018 at 11:30am at Central United Methodist Church, 5 Marvin Avenue, Linwood. A visitation will be held from 9:30am until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Laurel Memorial Park, Pomona.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations in Don's memory to the Scullville Volunteer Fire Company, 1708 Somers Point Road, EHT, NJ 08234; Linwood Volunteer Fire Company, 750 Lincoln Avenue, Linwood, NJ 08221; or Central United Methodist Church, 5 Marvin Avenue, Linwood, NJ 08221.
