Born on Gramercy Place Atlantic City May 2, 1933, Clementine (pronounced Clementeen) Marie Camp passed away on Tuesday July 26. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Helen Bloom (born Emma Helen) and Frank W. Camp (born Francis W.); her brother William and wife Louise Camp; her niece Patricia Lang; and her longtime partner Jake Rando. Ms. Camp is survived by her adoptive family Toni & Josh Lubeck and their daughters, Julianna and Marissa of Linwood, NJ; her niece Coleen & husband Alan Hopson of Oceanport, NJ; her nephew Frank W. Camp and great-niece Amelia Lang of Hillsborough, NC and great nieces Taylor Camp and Meredith Higgins and husband Tyler of NC; great nephew Benjamin Rush Lang of Maryland; great great nephew Leland Higgins; cousin Barbara Donaldson of Medford; cousin Richard Bloom of Ventnor City and numerous other cousins. Clementine was a longtime communicant of St James Roman Catholic Church of Ventnor City and more recently of Our Lady of Sorrows in Linwood.

Clementine Camp's roots are squarely in South Jersey. Family genealogist, Debby Camp, traces the Erickson family line of the Camp's back to the 1600s in South Jersey with the first Swedish settlers. Further the Bloom side of the family summered in Atlantic City in the late 1800s, early 1900s, her Grandfather Albert Jacob Bloom was Tip Staff (Bailiff) in the Philadelphia Courts. The Bloom family of 9 surviving children ultimately settled in Atlantic City. Clementine resided on 18 Cambridge Avenue in Ventnor City for 64 years and in the past decade moved to the Villages at Linwood and then Brandall Estates.

Ms. Camp was a graduate of Atlantic City High School, she had started at Temple University, making the women's varsity swim team, but dropped out upon her father's death so that she could support her mother. She then went on to become a bookkeeper, studying at New Jersey College of Commerce while waitressing during the night at Kent's Restaurant (on Illinois & Pacific Avenues). She held two jobs for a time, one being the night bookkeeper at the 500 Club, during the heady days of the Rat Pack. She was a bookkeeper for Kramer Beverage for 27 years and then for 25 years at Harrison Beverage.

Ms. Camp was an avid traveler both in North America and around the world by road, air and sea. She enjoyed the American West (Arizona, New Mexico, Oregon, Las Vegas, Texas, Montana and Alaska). She traveled to our neighbors north, Canada, and south, Mexico. The trip of her life was to Beirut, Lebanon then on to Kathmandu, Nepal and New Delhi, India. She met up with her cousin Anna Helen Ruf, who was stationed in Southeast Asia working for USAID. Of course, over the years there were numerous trips to her brother and his family as they resided in: Bird-in-Hand, PA; Isla Verde, Puerto Rico (which she called her second home); and Carrboro/Chapel Hill/Hillsborough, NC.

Clementine will be missed as a loving daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and cousin. She showed what it meant to be family.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by Adams-Perfect Funeral Home in Northfield. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to The Children's Home Society of New Jersey - 635 South Clinton Avenue Trenton, NJ 08611 or a charity of your choice. And if not that, buy someone a subscription to the Atlantic City Press (she was an avid reader) or spend some time with someone in need of companionship.
